Deacon Major Ross

Major Ross was the son of the late Millard Ross and Rosie Jackson Ross in Reynolds, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Taylor County, Georgia. Upon completion of  high school  he studied  at the local Vocational  College where he would learn the art of automobile body repair and paint arts. Major would go on to master his craft as a skilled auto body Technician. He served his community in this field by keeping the community auto body needs met.

 Major was an man who had thirst for growth and expansion. Major set his sail for Atlanta, Georga where he would establish Ross’s Body Shop in 1968 serving the Bankhead community. His talent and gift would draw attention to his service when needed, thus making Ross a perferred name in the collison Repair Industry. Ross Body Shop became a training station for young men who desired a trade or just work to survive.

Major only had his mustard seed faith that he gain from his religious training. He was a member of White Hill Baptist Church where he join at an early age. He would go on to serve as a deacon. Major was known for his laid back no nonsense approach and quick whit that was sure to make you smile and laugh. The light of the world is a bit dimmer now that Major's  light is no longer among us. He met the love of his life Leatha “Sister Mae” Green and made her his beloved wife. They shared many years together until her demise. Major took his flight on July 26, 2023 at Piedmont- Newnan in Newnan, Georgia. The memory of a man who made his mark on sand will be long remembered by those whose  life was touched by his legacy.

Left to  cherish his memory are 2 daughters Annette (Jeffery) Wooten and Kimley Ross 13 siblings James (Ruby) Ross, Bettye Alford, Mary Lennon, Bessie Ross, Earlene (David) Bingam all ofTrenton NJ, Rev. Leonard Ross,  L. J. Ross, Doris Pearson, W.D. Ross, Zeretha (Bennie) Marcus all of Atlanta , Ga. Earlie B.(Quanita) Ross and Celessie (Willard) Marshall both of Fort valley and Allum (Melody) Ross of Los Angeles, CA. Two grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
