Katie B. Searcy Hawk was born in Marion County on May 21, 1952 to the parents of Walter Searcy and Charle Mae Walker Goodroe. Katie attended the public Schools of Marion County. Katie grew up attending Evergreen Baptist Church in Mauk, Georgia and was member there.
Katie grew into an industrial woman who was not estranged to good work ethics. Katie had many job vocations in life that prepared her to be well rounded in many areas of life. If Katie could do it she tried it. She worked in health care for years as a CNA. She also worked in housekeeping for several hotel brands. She had a special passion for the elderly people of the community. She joined the Meals on Wheels team and served the seniors a hot meal daily.
Katie was into home interior she had a creative hand at decorating. She loved good music, she enjoyed oldies and in her moments of solitude and reflective moments on God she enjoyed Debra Snipes it was sure to lead her into the presence of the lord. Shopping at Thrift Stores was always her bargain jackpot of the day, in her Leisure time she loved playing Jumbo Bucks and a good dose of CC or Big Duke.
Katie was known for her "No Nonsense Attitude". If you came to Katie, one had to come correct. She was fun, loving, but was always direct and to the point. If you couldn’t handle Katie at 100 Proof then you was not ready for the real deal. Katie loved her children and family and ensured they understood that life was often not fair but you still had to get out in the world, pray, and make your way through the world.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents, her children Janice King, Christopher Searcy, and a brother John Goodroe.
Katie’s remarkable memory will be carried on by her loving family. Children: Alethea Searcy, Brenda Lee Bradford, Evelyn Searcy, Matesha Searcy, Katrina Marshall, Clifton D. Hawk.
