Mother Martha Jones was born on February 25, 1942 in Woodland Georgia to the parentage of the late Mattie Copeland Barnes and the late Willie Eugene Barnes Senior. She attended school in Talbot County school system. She joined in holy matrimony to the late Robert Eugene Jones Junior this union bless them with a daughter Velissa Sandra Jones.
Add an early age she joined the friendship Baptist Church under the pastorage Rev. Rev. Joe Sparks where is she was a faithful member that served wherever she was needed. She later moved her membership to Damascus Baptist Church when her husband was all dang as a deacon of the church I need to Pastorage of Rev. J.D. Walker. At Damascus she served faithfully onto her health declined. She attended Sunday School and was apart of the usher’s board and kitchen staff for many years. She was the immediate Past President of the usher’s board traveling to church throughout Taylor and surrounding counties. You would always see her traveling to various churches with her daughter to represent Demarcus. She was the current president of the Mothers board and Mother of the church. Martha was an active member of the Second Flint River Missionary Baptist Association, Women’s Mission(where she has served as Vice President) and Sunday School and BTU Convention attending both annually. She also served as one of the long standing cooks of all association events for years. She was known for the savory meals she would cook and serve. She was life member of the pride of Butler # 198 where she been a member 47 consecutive years.
She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life are her daughter Velissa Sandra Jones of Butler. Ga. Nieces and nephews that she considered as her own Reggie Carreker of Stone Mountain, Ga. Corey (Burdette ) Carreker of Manchester, Ga. Pandora (Torrance) Carreker Payne of Athens, Ga. Shawanda (Derrick) Carter of Manchester, Ga. A special nephew Jain Barnes Leonard of Woodland, Ga. Two grandsons Dallas Jermaine Jones Sr. (DeAundrea) Character); Matthew Jamal Montgomery and bonus grandson Serdavious Gray all of Butler Bonus GrandaughterTameka Willis of Macon, Ga. One great grandson Dallas Jasmine Jones, Jr. of Butler, Ga. Zy’Kerriah Tieasia Jones, of Butler, Ga. And a bonus great grandson Josiah Willis of Macon, Ga. Four sister Gertrude Carreker, Ruby Barnes,Gwendolyn Wiilsms, of Woodland, Ga. Dorothy Walker of Manchester, Ga. One brother joe(Mattie Pearl) Barnes Detroit MI, One brother-in-law Harry Tanksley Thomas, Ga. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
