Ruby Pearl Walker, known to many passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family on April 23, 2024. She was born on October 19, 1932, in Butler, Georgia.
Ruby's life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, faith, and warmth. She had a deep affection for her church and cherished the moments spent basking in the sunshine outdoors. Ruby's culinary skills were legendary among her circle; she delighted in preparing soul food delicacies, with banana pudding and sweet potato pies being her signature dishes.
Her education in the public schools of Taylor County laid the foundation for her lifelong love of learning. Ruby's kindness and radiant spirit touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence brought light to every room she entered and solace to those in need.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sarah Dawson and Otis Mathis, Sr., husband John Westly Sr., and son Jessie Alsobrook. Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be forever cherished by her surviving family and friends.
Among those who will dearly miss Ruby are her seven sons Terry (Elda) Walker, Jerry Walker, Hugh Walker, Alfred Walker, Anderson (Marie) Alsobrook, Ernest (Cora) Alsobrook, John Walker, Jr. She is also survived by four daughters Ruby Jean Walker, Annie Ruth Alsobrook, Brenda (Michael) Wilkerson, Mary Helen (Joe Lewis) Davison; three brothers Otis (Hattie) Mathis, Jr., Jessie B. Mathis James (Annie) Mathis; and one sister Rosa Mae Carter.
In addition to her immediate family members mentioned above are daughter-in-law Minnie Alsobrook; Brother-in-laws Donnie (Brenda) Walker, Larry (Glenda) Walker. 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren and her caregivers Annie Alsobrook and Alex Alsobrook.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Ruby's life will be held on April 28, 2024. The service will take place at Antioch Baptist Church in Butler at 2:00pm
Ruby Pearl Walker's earthly journey may have come to an end, but the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
